I, Dr. Bivek Singh, have dedicated my career to academic excellence and service in the medical field. As a finalist for the "Engaged Academic of the Year" award, my journey is marked by significant contributions to medical education, research, and community service. I founded the Nepalese Doctors Lounge (NEDOL), the largest virtual forum for Nepalese doctors, which garnered 11,200 members in just 2.5 years. Since my second year of medical school in 2010, I have taught thousands of medical and paramedic students from various Asian countries. I completed my Clinical Research Training at Harvard Medical School in 2020. My dedication extends beyond academia; I have been a frontline volunteer during major crises, such as the swine flu epidemics in Western Nepal and the 2015 earthquake. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I led a team of over 40 doctors providing round-the-clock free consultations. My impact on education is profound, having authored influential medical books and served as a mentor to countless students. My accolades include being named Asia's Outstanding Young Educator of the Year in the Philippines in 2024, and receiving the Outstanding Contribution in Education award at the Asian Education Conclave in November 2024. Post-COVID, to honor my father's five decades of healthcare service, I started a medical laboratory in Eastern Nepal, providing free diabetic screening for all patients. I have contributed nine research articles to reputed international journals, attended six national interviews, and been featured in more than a dozen newspaper articles. My areas of interest include neurology, medical education, public health, and healthcare systems in developing nations. This unique blend of scholarly achievement, innovative research, and compassionate service underscores my suitability for this esteemed award.
