Summary

Dato’ Nasharuddin Shukor has held the position of Vice President for Business & Enterprise Development at Management and Science University (MSU) since February 2015. His role involves identifying new investment opportunities, ensuring business sustainability, and commercializing research. His notable achievements include opening a 250-bed private medical centre, setting up a PPV vaccination centre during the COVID-19 pandemic, managing contracts with Ministry of Health hospitals, and overseeing a 300,000-bird capacity poultry farm. He also led the acquisition of a rubber gloves factory, renewed government contracts, and enhanced campus facilities by bringing in international brands. Before MSU, Dato’ Nasharuddin served as Executive Director of KARA Holdings, Johor Corporation. He managed the acquisition of Kedai Ayamas and Restoren Rasamas, and expanded product lines. He also established a training centre for entrepreneur development. From 2012 to 2014, he was Vice President of Kulim (Malaysia) Berhad, overseeing investments and business operations in various sectors, including fruits trading and timber. He was actively involved in the development of the MD2 pineapple industry in Malaysia with the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board. From 2009 to 2011, Dato’ Nasharuddin was General Manager of KFC Marketing Sdn Bhd, focusing on entrepreneur development and managing product sales. From 1991 to 2009, he was General Manager of JTP Trading Sdn Bhd, securing international contracts and establishing markets for banana and pineapple exports in Japan, Europe, and the Middle East. Dato’ Nasharuddin's career highlights his expertise in business development, operational management, and strategic investment across diverse industries, including healthcare services, agriculture, and retail.

Through his impactful leadership, Dato’ Nasharuddin Shukor has transformed lives and communities through a series of remarkable achievements. From 2018 to 2024, he successfully managed 50 business outlets within the Management and Science University (MSU), generating a total revenue of RM244 million. His efforts in fostering economic growth are exemplified by his leadership in organizing 270 projects and collaborations with external organizations, generating RM1.11 million in income for MSU.

Dato’ Nasharuddin spearheaded the Healthcare Equity for Affordable and Rapid Treatment (HEART) Project, establishing the Public Wing of MSU Medical Centre. This initiative has provided up to date private medical treatment to 73 community members, ensuring access to essential healthcare services. Additionally, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a crucial role in the Public Vaccination Program, facilitating the vaccination of 68,847 community members, thereby safeguarding public health.

Under his guidance, MSU's bi-annual Graduation Day events saw the participation of 350 vendors since 2015, promoting local businesses and entrepreneurship. His dedication to nurturing future entrepreneurs is evident in his mentorship of 567 JumpStart members from 2020 to 2023 and the training of MSU 100 Best Entrepreneurs, enabling them to establish companies registered with the Registrar of Companies Malaysia.

Dato’ Nasharuddin’s commitment to social entrepreneurship shines through the BED Annual RAMADHAN programme, which has provided business opportunities to 70 B40 community members and single mothers, empowering them to improve their livelihoods. His holistic approach to leadership and community development has left a lasting impact, fostering economic, social, and health benefits for countless individuals.
