Summary

Tso Kar Ho, Ejoe, a dedicated educator at HKIIT at IVE™ since 2015, has had a profound impact on the curriculum of technology and entrepreneurship education. Ejoe incorporates STEM fundamentals with practical, real-world applications by teaching essential courses such as UX Design, Design Thinking, Creative Technology Project, Interaction Design, Android Application Development, Unity Game Development, and Artificial Intelligence. He has been a faculty member at IVE Tuen Mun since 2018, where he has been responsible for the leadership of the Digital Media, Software Engineering, and AI Mobile Application Development programs. His efforts have substantially contributed to the development of tech-startup entrepreneurship through a variety of workshops and competitions. Ejoe's initiatives are not limited to the classroom; they also involve students in local community tech shows and international tech excursions, which expand their horizons and provide practical experience. His dedication is further demonstrated by his ongoing professional development, which has resulted in the acquisition of numerous certifications, including Microsoft MVP in Azure AI & Native Cloud and Unity Certified Instructor.

IMPACT STORY

Impacting lifes

Ejoe's influence surpasses conventional teaching methodologies by integrating curriculum with immersive, real-world initiatives. He supervised the development of an AI-powered nursing system for a social enterprise known as Elderly Care Center as part of his student project. This initiative is significant in that it demonstrates the potential of technology to be implemented in everyday community services. This initiative not only provided students with innovative ideas but also instilled a sense of civic responsibility in them. Ejoe ensures that learning is not solely about the transfer of information; it is also about empowering students to become competent laborers and benevolent citizens by implementing these types of programs.

Some of the latest notable startup projects he has been involved with include:

This project won the HKSTPC Silver Award at the YDC Dare to Change Entreprenship competition, Innovation Award at HKSTP IT City Challege 2024, Gold Award at ITCC Innovation Competition 2024, and the Smart Cities Gold Award at HKSTP Techathon 2024.

Beachbot - GreenTech Startup project. → www.beach-bot.com. This project won the Silver Award at Hong Kong GBA STEAM Excellence 2024, Silver Award at ITCC Innovation Competition 2024, and the Innovation Award at YDC Dare to change Entrepreneurship competition.

BadgeGPT - AI-powered Micro-credential platform → www.etbadge.com. This project won the APICTA Merit Award and was the Winner at Alibaba IdeaPop Jumpstarter 2022.

EzantiFall is an innovative tech-startup project that enhances safety for the elderly through an advanced fall detection and prevention system. Utilizing AI-powered sensors and real-time monitoring, EzantiFall significantly reduces injury risks by providing immediate alerts to caregivers and emergency services. This project won the HKHS Gerontech Competition Gold Award and ITCC Innovation Silver Award

In addition to these projects, Ejoe has been recognized for his teaching excellence, winning the Teaching Excellence Award in 2021 and Top Ten Excellence Award at Hong Kong GBA STEAM Excellence 2024.

LEARNINGS

Lessons learned

Ejoe emphasizes the importance of continuing to learn and adapt in the swiftly evolving technology sector. He bases his leadership style on the principles of setting a positive example and fostering an environment that encourages students to be creative and experiment with new ideas. He advised aspiring leaders to maintain an open mind to novel concepts, support group learning, and adopt a development mentality. Ejoe is of the opinion that instructors can significantly enhance student engagement and success by fostering a culture of resilience and innovation.

FUTURE PLANS

What's coming?

In the future, Ejoe intends to broaden his educational initiatives to encompass a greater number of interdisciplinary courses that incorporate emerging technologies, including advanced AI and blockchain. He intends to forge more robust industry partnerships in order to offer students direct exposure to real-world challenges and tech entrepreneurship. Furthermore, Ejoe is investigating virtual reality platforms in order to develop more interactive and engaging educational experiences. His vision entails the expansion of his outreach programs to encompass a broader demographic, thereby guaranteeing that a greater number of students have access to high-quality STEM education and career opportunities in technology.
